Xiaoxi Wei joined UCL in September 2025 as a Research Fellow in developing AI foundation model for brain digital data. In this role, he focuses on the development of multimodality AI models integrating brain images, potentially with clinical diagnostics and genomics data, to uncover new biomarkers for neurodegenerative diseases such as Alzheimer’s and Parkinson’s.

Before joining UCL, Xiaoxi’s PhD at Imperial College focused on large-scale brain data analysis with high variability using transfer learning and deep learning. His current research interests centre on AI foundation models for brain pathology and disease modelling, and explainable AI in neurodegeneration.
